The Netherlands these days are under the attack of a serious ransomware virus infection that strikes many computers. This threat uses the name and the logo of Politie Nederland, the Dutch Police. However, this virus warning has never been associated with Politie Nederland and Korps Landelijke Politiediensten (Afdeling Om Cybercriminalitet Te Bestrijden). This scam is a vivid demonstration of how instrumental cyber frauds are. They are the ones who are fully responsible for blocking your computer with a scary alert that says: “Opgelet! Uw computer is geblokkeerd op grond van een of meer hieronder vermelde redenen“. Politie Nederland virus may belong to various ransomware families. Reveton and Urausy are two largest malware clans that act extremely aggressively in spreading the infection among various countries of the world, including the Netherlands. The degree of their severity depends on various factors, however, the results of their attack for specific PC are always devastating. Artikel 208 van het Wetboek van Strafrecht voorziet in een boete tot €100000,00 en/of een gevangenisstraf van 4 tot 9 jaar. Er werd een onrechtmatige toegang van uw computer zonder uw medeweten gerealiseerd, uw computer is misschien met schadelijke software geinfecteerd, waardoor u de wet overtreedt inzake geringschattend gebruik van computer.
Artikel 202 van het Wetboek van Strafrecht voorziet in een gevangenisstraf van 4 tot 12 jaar. Er werd een onrechtmatige toegang van uw computer gerealiseerd tot de computer uw compufër’is misschien met schadelijke software geinfecteerd.
Artikel 212 van het Wetboek van Strafrecht voorziet in een boete tot €250000,00 of een gevangenisstraf tot 6 jaar. Indien deze activiteiten zonder uw medeweten werden verricht, valt u onder de werking van de hierboven genoemde artikel 210 van het Nederlandse Wetboek van Strafrecht.
Op dit moment wordt uw persoonlijkheid en locatie vastgesteld. Binnen 72 uur wordt er een strafzaak tegen u aanhangig gemaakt op grond van een of meer van de bovengenoemde artikelen.
In overeenstemming met de wijziging van het Nederlandse Wetboek van Strafrecht d.d. 04 februari 2013, kan dit strafbare feit (mits er geen sprake van recidive is en voor de eerste keer wordt gepleegd) als voorwaardelijk worden beschouwen indien een boete aan de staat betaald wordt.
De boete moet binnen 72 uur na de overtreding worden betaald. Na het verstrijken van 72 uur vervalt de mogelijkheid tot betaling van de boete en binnen 72 uur daarna wordt een strafzaak tegen u automatisch aanhangig gemaakt!
De boete bedraagt €100.
U kunt betalen een boete of Ukash PaySafeCard.
Indien u de boete wel betaalt zal uw computer gedeblokkeerd worden in de periode van 1 tot 72 uur nadat het geld op de rekening van de staat binnenkomt.
Na het deblokkeren hebt u 7 dagen om alle overtredingen te corrigeren.
Indien niet alle overtredingen na 7 werkdagen gecorrigeerd zijn, zal uw computer opnieuw geblokkeerd worden en wordt er een strafzaak tegen u automatisch aanhangig gemaakt op grond van een of meerdere bovengenoemde artikelen.
As you see, this fake Politie Nederland warning simply lists some items from the Dutch legislation and accuses users of performing various illegal activities online. This is how the virus explains the reason for the computer being locked. The only goal of this virus is to scare uses into death and to make them obey further fraudulent instructions of cyber frauds. In particular, the virus instructs users to pay certain fine (which is obviously a fake fine) in the amount of 100 Euros. However, even if one pays this ransom, there’s no guarantee that hackers will keep up with their promises and will unlock computer.
